Today we were going to explore and walk off our jetlag! We headed towards Rockefeller Centre traveling on 5th Avenue. We saw the stunning architecture of Saint Thomas Church, the Microsoft Store and the beautiful St Patrick’s Cathedral. We enjoyed our wander through Rockefeller Garden and ended up in the Lego Store – what a treat that was.
From there we made our way to Grand Central Station – I just love it, the grandeur, the architecture, the lights… Anyway, we read that there is a “Whispering Arch” – so we found it and tested it out and yeah it’s real – you stand opposite each arch and then facing the corner (like a naughty child) you just whisper and the person on the opposite end of the arch can hear you – there is a lot of noise in the video, as the station was busy, but you can still hear Mandrie’s voice and she was at the other end. We also had fun exploring at the Apple Store – Herzius’ highlight. The train ride provided Mandrie with her daily chin-ups.
We circled back to Top of The Rock took some daytime photos of the scenery and settled in for some chocolate while we waited for the sun to set. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunset and mesmerising views. Then it was time to head back passing Radio City and the LOVE sculpture.
I just love taking photos of architecture when the opportunity presents itself, I wouldn’t go chase for it. What is your favourite type of photography?
